A desert, mountain sheep from North Africa, built for the rugged Hill Country terrain.

Aoudad sheep (also called Barbary sheep) are native to the Atlas Mountains of North Africa. They’re tough, athletic animals that gravitate toward the rockiest, most elevated ground on the ranch. Hunting them means getting into the hills, which is part of what makes it a great experience.

Why Hunt Aoudad Sheep at Herd Hunting?

Aoudad are a genuine challenge. They live in the roughest terrain on the property, they’re alert, and they don’t give you many easy opportunities. It takes years for a ram to fully mature with massive, sweeping horns and distinctive flowing chaps. Our ranch targets only those for harvest, but with our natural terrain and forage combined with year-round protein, each year we grow several trophy rams.
