Unique, interesting to hunt, and an incredible protein.

Sika deer are native to East Asia (China, Japan, and Formosa) and they’ve found a comfortable home in the brushy terrain of the Hill Country. They come in several subspecies which gives rise to an array of distinct appearances, behaviors and niches. Mature bucks typically carry miniature elk-like antlers with a vertical main beam and 3-4 points per antler. However, body and antler size, color, and habits can vary greatly across subspecies.

Why Hunt Sika at Herd Hunting?

We believe the Sika on our ranch compare to the best anywhere. Habitat is excellent for the species as they prefer a mix of dense brush, open meadows and plenty of riparian areas to wade and feed. Our bucks have large bodies, large antlers and beautiful coats. We cannot stress enough how good the meat of these animals is.
