A desert species from North Africa with impressive horns and outstanding meat.

Scimitar oryx are native to the Sahara region of North Africa and are classified as extinct in the wild — which makes the managed populations on Texas ranches an important part of the species’ survival. They’re large, striking animals with long, swept-back horns and a white coat built for the desert.

Why Hunt Scimitar Oryx at Herd Hunting?

Oryx are one of our sleeper hits. Hunters come for the horns and the trophy — and then they can’t stop talking about the meat. If you care about what ends up in your freezer as much as what ends up on the wall, oryx should be at the top of your list.
